Mō tēnei tūranga mahi | About this role

As a Network Engineer, your primary purpose will be to oversee the management of the district's roading network, ensuring smooth and efficient road maintenance and renewal contracts. You will play a crucial role in maintaining the quality and cost-effectiveness of our road network operations. This role requires a competent and confident individual who can support our service delivery to ensure we meet all our requirements, and meet current and future service demands and community needs.

You'll be joining a team that envisions being better together, so you'll be a team player that upholds the values that a bunch of staff developed together (see below). To be successful in this role, we are looking for a candidate who possesses the following qualifications, skills, and attributes:

  • A degree or equivalent qualification in Civil Engineering or a related field.
  • Proven experience in managing road maintenance
  • Experience in network inspection, programming, and contract management is highly desirable.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills with the ability to analyze complex road network data, identify trends, and propose effective solutions.
  • Communication skills: Strong written and verbal communication skills to engage with stakeholders, contractors, and team members effectively.
  • Relevant experience working with or in Local and/or Central Government with an understanding of key legislation and guidelines
  • Experience in developing strong working relationships with key stakeholders
