Mō tēnei tūranga mahi | About this role

We are looking for an experienced Arborist with a keen work ethic and a ‘can do' attitude who is passionate about trees and working outdoors to join our Open Spaces Team. You will be responsible for tree management and maintenance throughout Whakatāne. As part of the Open Spaces Team your duties will include all aspects of arboriculture, such as planning, planting, pruning and removals.

Ko wai koe | About you

To be successful in this role you will have:

  • National Certificate in Arboriculture (Level 4 or above) or a New Zealand Diploma in Arboriculture
  • Experience in an arboriculture or horticultural environment
  • Competence in operating and maintain small machinery (chainsaws, weed eaters etc)
  • Excellent knowledge of tree maintenance/management
  • A good level of fitness
  • Growsafe certification
  • Chainsaw certification including tree felling.
  • Excellent decision making
  • Good communication and problem-solving skills
  • Full drivers license
