Mō tēnei tūranga mahi | About this role

As our Waste & Resource Recovery Manager you'll be responsible for the leadership and management of the districts solid waste ensuring it is efficiently and effectively managed to agreed service levels, technical standards and statutory requirements. You'll provide leadership and management to a small team of technical specialists, consultants and contractors, ensuring operational delivery supports the development of collaborative partnerships, meets regulatory compliance and meets current and future service demands for our community.

Ko wai koe | About you

You'll hold a tertiary qualification in a science or other related field. You'll have strong knowledge of Local Government legislation and statutory requirements that effect waste operations and services (including Waste Minimisation Act, Litter Act, Climate Change Response Act), and a good understanding of Te Tiriti o Waitangi and Tikanga Māori and the implications for community development.

What you'll bring

  • Knowledge and experience working within local government with waste legislation and policy
  • Excellent communication skills across a range of audiences with the ability to influence decisions
  • Exceptional people leadership skills
  • Experience in strategic planning including experience in the development and implementation of a WMMP.
  • Demonstrated collaboration and consultation skills
  • Experience in managing budgets
