Mō tēnei tūranga mahi | About this role

The role is responsible for the daily processing of bank statements and receipting transactions, ensuring accuracy, timeliness, and compliance across Council's financial systems.

You'll work as part of a supportive Finance team, helping ensure payments are correctly processed and allocated while maintaining strong internal relationships and high service standards.

This is a permanent job share position, working 40 hours per fortnight across a structured two-week cycle. The schedule looks like this:

  • Week 1: Thursday and Friday
  • Week 2: Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday

From time to time we would need the successful candidate to be available for extra hours during high-volume payment periods, e.g. rates and water billing runs.

What you'll do

  • Process daily bank statements and distribute transactions to relevant staff.
  • Manage manual receipting, including deposits, NZ Post, IBIS tills, credit card and dishonoured payments.
  • Clear cashier holding accounts and manage general ledger transfers.
  • Identify and resolve discrepancies proactively.
  • Provide support across the Financial Accounting team as required.
  • Maintain high standards of accuracy and compliance in all financial processing activities.

You'll be someone who enjoys working with detail and systems, takes pride in accuracy, and brings a strong customer service mindset to both internal and external interactions. You're organised, proactive, and comfortable working with financial processes and data.

What You'll Bring to the Role

  • At least 3 years' experience in an administrative or customer service role.
  • Strong attention to detail and high level of accuracy.
  • Confidence working with Microsoft Office and financial/database systems.
  • Excellent time management and ability to meet deadlines.
  • A proactive, solution-focused approach.
  • A positive and collaborative team attitude.
