Mō tēnei tūranga mahi | About this role
As Asset Officer - Plant & Equipment, you will be responsible for monitoring, maintaining, and optimising building management systems and mechanical plant across key Council facilities, including the Library and Exhibition Centre, Museum, Civic Centre, and Aquatic Centres. You'll play a key role in improving energy efficiency and ensuring heating, ventilation, and air conditioning systems operate effectively.
You will maintain accurate asset registers and management plans, ensuring all preventative and deferred maintenance is recorded and up to date. The role also involves coordinating and delivering minor operational and capital works, including scoping, procurement, contractor management, and budget monitoring.
Working closely with internal teams, contractors, and stakeholders, you will respond to service requests, support compliance and quality audits, and help ensure Council facilities are well-maintained, fit for purpose, and deliver value to the community.

To be successful in this role you will have:
- Minimum 5 years' experience in facilities, asset management, or mechanical/building services environments
- Strong understanding of building management systems and HVAC plant operations
- Proven ability to coordinate maintenance and minor capital works projects
- Experience managing contractors and ensuring high-quality service delivery
- Sound knowledge of asset registers and maintenance planning systems
- Financial awareness, including budgeting and tracking project expenditure
- Strong organisational skills with the ability to manage multiple tasks and priorities
- Effective communication and relationship management skills
- Ability to respond proactively to issues and deliver practical solutions
- Commitment to safety, quality standards, and continuous improvement.
