Mō tēnei tūranga mahi | About this role

We are currently looking for multiple Lifeguard positions, including a Senior Lifeguard opportunity, at our Murupara Pool facility. Some roles are available from September, with successful applicants helping prepare the pool and complete training before the pool opens for the season in late October. All positions will run through to Easter 2027, when our pool closes for the season.

These roles are critical to the safe and successful operation of the facility and play a key role in delivering quality aquatics services to our community.

The pool operates 7 days a week, with staff working on a roster during this time.

  • During school term time, staff work from 6am - 10am, and 3pm - 6pm during the week, and between 10am - 6pm on Saturdays and Sundays.
  • During school holidays, staff work between 6am - 6pm Monday to Friday, and 10am - 6pm at weekends.
  • The pool will be closed on the following public holidays - 25th & 26th December and 1st & 2nd January.

Ko wai koe | About you

We'll provide the support and training; you'll bring the skills and enthusiasm. We welcome applications from both experienced lifeguards and people who are new to the industry and keen to complete the required training.

To be successful in one of these roles you will:

  • Have a strong work ethic and a positive attitude
  • Be a confident swimmer
  • Enjoy working in an active, hands-on environment
  • Have excellent communication and customer service skills
  • Be committed to providing a safe and welcoming experience for pool users

You'll be part of a small, high-performing team that is passionate about serving our communities.

For the Senior Lifeguard position, you'll also be able to demonstrate leadership capabilities, support the training and development of team members, and help ensure the smooth day-to-day operation of the facility.

As these are safety-sensitive positions, successful applicants must pass a police vetting check and a pre-employment drug test.
