Accounts Payable Assistant
The Whakatāne District Council is seeking a motivated team member to assist the Accounts Payable Officer in the timely and accurate management of creditor payments, purchase orders, reconciliation and analysis.
Reporting to the Manager Financial Accounting, this is a part-time role working 20 hours per week.
The successful candidate will be a problem-solver with fast and accurate data entry skills. This person will also have a passion for excellent customer service and desire to be a supportive team member. Preference will be given to candidates who are systems-savvy, have intermediate Excel skills and some experience in creditor management.
The key responsibilities for this position include:
- Proactive management of purchase orders (initiation, authorisation, matching and processing)
- Input of creditor invoices
- Ensuring accurate soft copies of invoices are stored on a central document system
- Reconciliation of monthly creditor statements
- Initiation of and production of payment runs
- Liaising with staff across all service areas
